1.
Take me to the river, take me to the sea Let me see what’s swimming there, baby let me see And when I feel so empty I want to disappear I need a shoulder to cry on, baby lend an ear Disarray, helter skelter Storms are coming, girl, look for shelter Let me hold your hand when you’re pulling me away Because I’ll need somebody to talk to when I’m in the grave I can tell that by your panic, you’re trying to stay sane One word of advice, girl, don’t get on the plane Disarray, helter skelter Storms are coming, girl, look for shelter If you fly to Pennsylvania in the middle of a storm Be sure to tell your pilot that you’re ready to be born I’ll be there to meet you when the ground beneath you shifts Be sure to keep your eyes closed when you’re stepping off a cliff
2.
Out on the water's edge Came a sound from below the sea A symphony lined with rage A spirit rose from the deep Then just like that it’s gone A complete change of scene This doesn't make any sense I'm in between dreams I can't seem to find where I last placed my mind I don't quite understand where I am The last place I remember is nowhere The last thing I recall is nothing at all Snow capped mountain peak I stand alone with my despair When did I get so lost? And why do I just not care? A tree sprouts from the ground Turning the white to green I’m completely upside down I’m in between dreams I can't seem to find where I last placed my mind I don't quite understand where I am The last place I remember is nowhere The last thing I recall is nothing at all Nothing at all
3.
Instead of telling the world to come to it’s feet The words of the wise man were wasted on a message board feed Everything fell into turmoil after that day Now the lights and the colors that shine, they won’t go away Silver and green, purple and gold I can’t find the key; I’m stuck out in the cold Someone come find me, then leave me alone Silver and green, purple and gold Blinding and binding, encircling, ensnaring, entrapping Sometime’s it’s so hard to believe that all this is happening For hours and hours on end I deal with the strife The day’s a lot longer when you constantly fight for your life Silver and green, purple and gold I can’t find the key; I’m stuck out in the cold Someone come find me, then leave me alone Silver and green, purple and gold Sand dunes and shrapnel, and shells of various kinds Litter the landscape and threaten to destroy my mind It’s so hard to forgive or present any grace When you can’t even see your enemy’s face Silver and green, purple and gold I can’t find the key; I’m stuck out in the cold Someone come find me, then leave me alone Silver and green, purple and gold Silver and green, purple and gold
4.
The Northern lights shine into my window Neon green Aurora Borealis Paints the room the color of my dreams The strange thing is my bedroom is in Dallas The light it pulls me out of bed Up and out into the night Flying high in the night sky Why? Why? Why?
5.
As I exit the shuttle, the realization of vast emptiness grabs hold of my ever-expanding mind and pushes my eyes upward into my head. I can feel my body moving, changing, transforming, evolving. This moment is as insignificant as a blade of grass to a field, a locust in a swarm of locusts, a water molecule to an ocean. As a giant star rises over a nearby moon, I see the eye of God. It bores into my soul and spills my very being into the universe; I become one with everything. An entity appears and tells me I need not be afraid for all has been washed clean, made anew, and I feel this to be the truth. The electric blue angel smiles as she takes my hand and pulls me into the rising sun, which implodes upon our impact, taking the entire universe, the stars, moons, and planets, with it. Existence ceases. Creation is void. Now I am falling.
6.
Well I told you so So that you would know But you disobeyed That’s the price you pay Falling from the sky Falling from the sky Back down to earth At the gates of heaven They wouldn't let you in They said you sold your soul A long time ago Falling from the sky Falling from the sky Back down to earth At the gates of hell They said, "My boy, you've done well We welcome you in For your life of sin" Falling from the sky Falling from the sky Back down to earth

about

Altered States Dallas, Texas

From the peculiar minds of multi-instrumentalists Josh Dawald and Luke Hoffman, Altered States is less a band and more of an intangible aural vessel for your mind. This Dallas-based duo mixes beautiful, spacey soundscapes with elements of prog-rock, psychedelia, pop, hip-hop, electronic music, heavy blues, and conceptual, thought-provoking lyrics to create a unique, eclectic sound all their own. ... more
